The Nieuwe Werck in Schiedam (ca. 1230) has a rich history dating back to 1655 when this area was built as a city expansion. The island includes a wide range of stately, classic houses on the Tuinlaan and the Lange Nieuwstraat, also one of the oldest city parks in the Netherlands.
